![]() ![]() This would be a publishable book if I wrote a review of each of these so I simply wont waste your time detailing all of these stories. I started chronologically with first book and went in the order found below. Having not read any of the books, I wanted to do it right, so I started at the beginning. With the announcement of Halo 4 at E3 2011 and a sign of pure geekery, I knew I wanted a fresh and more in-depth ride into the Halo Universe. That all leads me here, craving more story. When I wasn’t blazing the campaign trail, I was playing alongside MLG pros and semi-pros. In addition to playing a whole bunch of campaign, I became pretty damn good in multiplayer, making a lot of friends in the MLG Circuit and playing in several events. ![]() Knowing that I was only getting - what I thought was - 1/3 of the story, I went out and purchased Halo: CE and Halo 2, blasted through those in no time, then continued with Halo Wars, Halo 3: ODST and finally, Halo: Reach. I’ve never played a game’s campaign like I did Halo 3’s. I played straight through the campaign of Halo 3, and then played it again, and again, and then on Legendary, and then to find the skulls, and terminals, and then with all skulls on. So, wanting more, I ventured into the storyline and I was instantly hooked. Multiplayer is great, but when your friends aren’t online it’s certainly less fun. I purchased my first Halo game, Halo 3, in a bundled package in late 2007 exclusively for the multiplayer, never being exposed to the storyline… that would change. So, with the release of Halo 3 on the horizon, I held off. He had a high interest in Major League Gaming (MLG) and he was good, really good. A quick side note, while playing Halo 2 with Escape The Fate, I learned that their song “The Guillotine” was actually written about Halo 2, so check it out! Finally, a friend I met in college who played Halo 2 religiously got me playing the game, but only multiplayer. In early 2007, in the tour bus of a bad named Escape The Fate, I was reintroduced to the game, this being Halo 2, with a fresh coat of paint and some pretty awesome multiplayer maps, I was a bit more intrigued in the multiplayer, but I still wasn’t sold. He was addicted to the game and near unwilling to let anyone else play, so while I was interested in a console-based First Person Shooter, I only watched most of the time and played very little. In 2002, a friend of mine introduced me to Halo: CE. I was a Playstation fanboy when the Xbox released, buried in the games offered by Playstation 2’s massive library. It wasn’t until Halo 3 came out and a friend practically forced me to play that it took hold, and after that, I dove head first down the rabbit hole. My name is Tyler and I have to start this story by saying I was not one of the people who waited in line when Halo: Combat Evolved was released in 2001, I didn’t even get Halo 2 for the longest time. This is a little background about how I’ve been preparing for the continuation of the Halo storyline in Halo 4. It took an incredible story line, an unparalleled hero, 7 (12) halo rings and the fate of the universe. I’ve played games throughout my life, but I didn’t start taking them seriously until Halo. ![]() I played pitfall, centipede, asteroids and even the dreaded E.T. I remember when I was about 4 or 5, my uncle had an Atari (which I now still own) in his basement and that’s kind of where it all began. My introduction to Halo - I started this journey in January, but I thought it was time for an update, as well as a very brief Halo autobiography. I’ve been playing games for a very long time. M y Xbox Gamertag is ODSTyler, and I’ll play with anyone, in any gametype. If you want to skip past my mini Halo gaming autobiography, go down to “ The Journey. I’d like to open this with an invitation to play. Wanting to understand the whole story, I set out on a journey… It’s a story of not just John, Master Chief Spartan 117, but the story of many, including other spartans, soldiers, civilians and aliens. It’s an amazing story that expands across the universe, over decades, and back 100,000 years. The Halo series is my Harry Potter, Star Wars, Hunger Games, or LOST. Most people don’t know that the game series Halo is only a small portion of a huge story which has expanded into books, comics, TV series, and movies. ![]()
